-I have  never been to Seattle. I spent a week in Vancouver once before a cruise but that’s about the extent of my Pacific Northwest travels. As i do with most things, i happened to stumble over this song this morning. It’s cute, it’s short, it’s to the point. Give it a listen

–Suresh Joachim has broken his own Guinness world record for nonstop broadcast-television watching, clocking 72 hours in the Swedish capital.

“I feel fine, I drank between 25 and 30 cups of coffee,” Joachim said Sunday.

His previous record was 69 hours, 48 minutes, set in 2005.

Joachim, a Sri Lanka native who lives in Toronto, watched three seasons of the drama series “24” featuring Kiefer Sutherland, said Swedish TV4 spokeswoman Janina Witkowski.

—And to bring the whole world back to a decent level of sadness.. Here’s a song that has been featured at least twice here that just seems to keep coming back up. Perhaps we’re pushing this one  a bit too hard.. There’s just a definite soft spot for bearded, flannel-wearing, singer-songwriters..

A Last Note: Monday night is the Pains Of Being Pure at Heart show @ The Cat. You should go.

-Craig Finn and Tad Kubler’s pre-Hold Steady band Lifter Puller will be putting out an anthology of sorts sometime this year.

Yo Yo Ma is a sideshow hack… That and it was very windy and cold on Janurary 20th. The song played by the all star quartet at the inauguration was pre-recorded due to the extreme weather and it’s potential effects on the performance.

-A drunken, Steven Lipski, who happens to be a Jersey City councilman was arrested for urinating on a crowd of concertgoers from the balcony of the 930 club. This all happened during a concert by a Grateful Dead tribute band Friday night, club sources said. “He was very drunk,” the source said, noting that it wasn’t the first time Lipski had caused a ruckus at the popular concert venue.

-Belle and Sebastian’s Stuart Murdoch is currently putting the finishing touches on the soundtrack for his musical film, God Help the Girl.

From Stuart’s blog:

I’m aiming to master all the “God Help The Girl” songs by the end of November. I think there are 18 of them. It’s a good feeling to think about making records. Sleeves and schedules, running orders and what not. It’s been so long since I did it that, I suspect the landscape has changed. Do you get the same thrill when you look forward to a record coming out? I suppose I must ask the youngsters among you, because age dulls most thrills. But youngsters, where are your thrills coming from? Do you desire the sensation that is the Long Playing Record. Does pop music teach you and hold you and thrill you the way it used to? The way it did to us?

Keith Olbermann speaks out! You’re my favorite.

If you scroll through the commentary on the video, you’ll find this guy and his comments and you’ll be reminded of  the other 46% of the country. And for more click Here.

Here’s HIS comment on the Olbermann video: LIBIRAL DOUCHE-BAG! Homosexuality is bad enough for America and the Family! Give them the right to marry and corrupt the spiritual traditions worse than they are already, today, corrupted? Oberman, die you retard. Die of AIDS like all the homos out there need to. IT’S VOTED ON! IT PASSED! EAT IT, gay-wads! EAT IT and go shove your penis up another sphyncter-hole you anti-christs. You libiral Oberman supporters make me sick. Go kill yourselves… I hope Oberman and Obama die.

you lost. eat it.

-Radiohead announced today that In Rainbows sold around 3 million copies across all formats. While  BitTorrent downloads surpassed that number, the band still made more on the record than they did off of 2003’s Hail to the Thief (994,000 physical sales). While many were quick to write-off Radiohead and their publicity machine of an album, I though quite highly of it. “All i Need” gets me every time for some reason.

Stats:

• After being made available for free for 3 months the album was no.1 in the UK and in the US
• 1st Radiohead album on iTunes – no.1 album selling 30,000 units in the US in the first week
• The physical CD has sold 1.75 million to date and is still top 200 UK & US
• They sold 100k boxsets via W.A.S.T.E.
• Nearing 17 million plays on last.fm
• 1.2 million fans will see the tour
• The digital income from the experiment made a material difference to WCM’s UK digital revenue this year

Dear President _________,
Congratulations! Now brace yourself for an avalanche of advice — from the 21 people in your Cabinet, from dozens of advisory councils, hundreds of members of Congress, thousands of lobbyists and pundits, and millions of voters. Everyone’s got an opinion on what needs to be done. But the policies that emerge from such groupthink tend to be weird mashups of conflicting interests or warmed-over slabs of conventional wisdom. Enough of that. The country needs fresh directions and crisp action plans on intractable issues like climate change, energy, security, and defense. To help shape your thinking, we’ve come up with a Smart List of 15 Wired people with big ideas about how to fix the things that need fixing. Hail to the new chief — and please listen up
